Since our last trip to Ireland, Katie and I thought we traveled so well together we would do it again! When our $450 return flights to Spain (from Des Moines, no less) came up, we jumped at the chance! Here is what we did every day, and some photos that I took along the way.
May 6:
We arrived in Valencia and made our way to our Air Bnb. Went out to dinner, got our bearings, and roamed around the city.
May 7:
- Dulce De Leche - The MOST amazing cafe that we could walk to from our Air Bnb.
- Torres De Serranos - Towers that used to be gates into Valencia
- House of Cats - An older woman loved cats so much that when she passed, she left her house to the cats of Valencia.
- Plaza Del Virgen, and Plaza Reina
- Drank Horchata (created in Valencia) and Agua de Valencia (Fresh squeezed orange juice with cava, Spanish Champagne)
- Took the train to Barcelona
- Walked by Casa Batllo and Casa Mila on the way to dinner
May 8:
- Walked La Rambla
- Mercado de Boqueria - Huge Spanish market off La Rambla
- Sandemans free walking tour which took us around the Gothic Quarter, Born, Parc de la Ciutadella areas.
- Walked to Barceloneta Beach
- Tapas Tour
May 9: Our Gaudi day
- Sangrada Familia tour which included going up inside Passion facade tower
- Tour of Casa Batllo
- Park Guell
May 10:
- Flew to Seville
- Real Alcazar
- Metropol Parasol - "The Mushroom"
- Plaza De Esapana
- Los Gallos for a Flamenco show
May 11:
- Breakfast at Torch Coffee (with fresh squeezed orange juice of course!)
- Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla - The oldest bull ring in Spain
- Iglesia del Salvador (Buy tickets here and you get enterance to the Seville Cathedral too!)
- Seville Cathedral - The biggest Gothic cathedral in the world, and the third largest church in the world.
- El Corte de Ingles - dinner with a view
- Hostel rooftop was open tonight too!
May 12:
- Early early train to Alicante via Madrid
- Found our gorgeous Air Bnb with an incredible view
- Beach
- Grocery shopping
- Roamed around Alicante
May 13:
- Santa Barbara Castle
- Beach time!
- A bit of shopping
- Train to Valencia
May 14:
- One last glorious breakfast at Dulce De Leche, it was good enough to warrant not one, but TWO photos.
- Flew back to the USA
